Dhaulagiri
Dhaulagiri is the 7th highest mountain in the world and one of the most impressive mountains that lies south of Nepal/Tibet border. Standing in solitary and unrivalled splendour, it floats above a sea of haze, apparently dissociated from the world beneath. The name Dhaulagiri, was derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Dhavala’, meaning white and ‘giri’ means mountain – “mountain-white” mountain. First ascent of Dhaulagiri mountain was made in 1960 by Swiss/Austrian team led by proficient Max Eiselin.
We begin our expedition from Beni after dropping by bus there and trek via the beautiful Dhaulagiri circuit route to Base camp at an altitude of 4600m, then place various camps: ABC(5,151m), Camp I (5,702m), Camp II(6,630m), Camp III(7,180m) and the last camp at 7,600m, which is also considered to be one of most difficult, from where we attempt for summit. And then upon completion of the expedition we return via the French col to Jomsom and fly to Kathmandu via Pokhara.
