Lhakpa-Ri

Lhakpa-Ri

Trip Overview

Lhakpa Ri is regarded as the highest trekking peak in the world superbly positioned and historically significant peak lying directly opposite Everest’s Northeast Ridge, on the watershed between the East Rongbuk and Kharta glaciers. Bill Tilman made the first ascent of Lhakpa Ri during the 1936 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition. We begin our Lhakpa Ri expedition journey by drive with a scenic Tibetan plateau to Base camp & the trek towards the footsteps of George Mallory to the Everest North Ridge expedition route, to the high camp from Advance Base Camp and then to summit. The view from summit is some of the finest Himalayan scenery imaginable, including Everest North, Cho-Oyu, Shishapangma, mountains of Khumbu-Lhotse, Baruntse to Makalu and Kangchenjung. After the successful climb, we drive via the route to Nyalam, Kodari and Kathmandu completing this memorable expedition.
